Woohoo - a trip!

We are going on a trip and you would think that packing for just two for just a few days would be SIMPLE.....NOT!  The reason being, two people on a motorcycle...one motorcycle.  Yeah, everyone sees the nice bag saddlebags on the sides and think 'that's a lot of room'....well I am here to tell you - it ain't!  They look big on the outside but when you go to put stuff in...just say'n, it isn't easy for a female to pack for a road trip!

We have gone before and know that I overpack...yes, me!  I find after each trip a few more items that I truly don't have to take.  Trust me, there is clean undies for me and the husband for each day - that I won't sacrifice - nope, no way, no how!  We have found that jeans are wearable for a couple of days depending on how long the trip is.  Gotta have a clean shirt each day.  The toiletries are probably the hardest thing to put together...I am more fortunate than some females - I don't need stuff to do the hair -- when you ride, you get helmet hair!  Just keep it cut really short, spritz a little water and it stands back up again! Then you have to throw in a bit of rain gear.....just in case -- ever had on soggy clothing - not fun but it do make a great memory!

And that is what this is all about - making a memory, seeing something new and have some great stories to tell on what we have seen.  Just simple stuff - riding on the back of a motorcycle - who knows, I might get some really great pictures to post.  Here's to getting stuff ready for the upcoming trip!

Sunday Ride

What a beautiful day yesterday!  We hopped on the motorcycle and took off for the hills and lakes of WV.  The ride past a couple of the falls was a bit disappointing only because rain has been scarce around here lately but the views didn't fail to disappoint.  Will have to add some pictures as I get them downloaded from the camera.

Rode up Gauley Mountain, Chimney Corners into Fayetteville.  Took the turn off to go down under the New River Bridge -- amazing that men built that bridge.  Went to Summersville Lake - oh my goodness - it is a beautiful site - boats everywhere.  Going to explore the possibility of renting a boat and spending the day on the lake!  Went past Birch River and came back into Clendenin - it was time for a Diet Pepsi and chocolate - YUM!

Safe and sound back home - God definitely blessed WV with some beautiful scenery and I am blessed that I get to enjoy simply riding the bike and taking it all in.  Lovin' life!

Conviction

Wow - what a lesson Pastor preached yesterday -- TRUTH!  It is so hard for us human beings to understand the ways of God but am so blessed to have a Pastor that puts it into plain and simple words.  The lesson was on your convictions - that made me squirm just hearing that!

The words really hit home in several areas of my life.  From what I read to how I speak and even how I drive -- can anyone say Road Rage -- yes, the ugly truth is that sometimes I don't feel like praying for the idiot (sorry, the person) that just made me slam on my brakes because they decided to change lanes while talking on their cell phone.....and that is another story for another day.  These are just a few things - too many to list.

Am glad that I attend a church (http://www.mfctoday.org/) that is Bible believing -- from the Book of Genesis to the Book of Revelation - beginning to end - and that we have a Pastor that speaks plain and simple.  God is good all the time!  His Son, Jesus Christ, died for me.  The least I can do is to live a life that exemplifies that He lives in me!

Motorcycle and Old Cars

Made sure that all my chores were finished yesterday...sweeping, laundry, sheets changed, bathrooms cleaned and the hubby mopped the floors before we went to bed......so that this morning could be spent lazily reading the paper or whatever.

The hubby is more gung ho than I am on a Saturday morning.  Ready to jump in and get projects going....however, a suggestion of him riding the bike to see the old Pontiac cars that are parked uptown........back to a peaceful, simple, relaxed morning.  Everyone knows that I am just as much (OK, probably more so) of a cycle enthusiast as he and I also enjoy seeing the old cars......just not every time.

The rain that came thru has removed some of the humidity so it is pleasant to be outdoors.  I hope that he is having fun....I pray that for him....to enjoy a simple life too, simply enjoy the blessings that God has for us.

Special Lady

The idea of this blog started many months ago but I never got around to putting it together.

Well, yesterday, July 7, was a very special day in my life...my mom's birthday.  So I felt it was time to start putting thoughts down...hence, the blog.

She would have been 81...the key is the word 'would'.  This very special lady passed away 16 years ago.  She is always on my mind but this weekend...the 4th of July....would have been the time set aside for family to celebrate her birthday and I realized that I haven't used the word Mom in a very long time in that special way.  I went thru a phase of calling her 'ma' (thanks to a friend from Indiana) and she would tell me "I'm mom not ma" but she grew to like the name 'ma' also....she was like that.

So, Mom, this is for you - thank you for being that simple, special mom to me.

Dessert anyone?

Met a friend for lunch yesterday.  Ok, lunch and dessert........and another dessert.  We shared both of the desserts, does that count for anything??  Met at a local restaurant.....not a chain or fast food place....very casual and really good food....did I mention dessert??  Buttermilk blueberry pie - OMGoodness - it was delish.  We moved down the street to a small bakery and had the 2nd tasting - raspberry something tart - another OMGoodness.  Extra exercise last night.

The company is what made the day.  This young lady is a water aerobics instructor and has chosen me to be a friend.  I say chosen because she is a private person and I sense that she doesn't get close to a lot of people.  We simply sat and chatted during lunch and dessert(s) and the variety of subjects was amazing.  To think, I am old enough to be her mother but we are simply two women, two different backgrounds, born of two different eras enjoying a simple life.

Thanks to the young lady for a pleasant afternoon and thanks to God, the Lord of my life.
